The work
MEDITERRANEAN STUDIES — The Current explores the emotional force of water, where movement, sunlight, and the body become part of the same atmosphere.
Set within the open Mediterranean sea, the work captures a figure moving through shifting water as the sun lowers across the horizon. Gold light breaks across the surface, meeting deep turquoise, blue, and green tones beneath her body. The sea is not background here — it carries the composition, the movement, and the feeling of release.
The figure appears absorbed into the water rather than placed above it. Her movement is quiet, unforced, and solitary — held between sea current, sunlight, and the vastness ahead.
Built through luminous colour, painterly texture, and broken reflected light, the work draws from contemporary Mediterranean figurative painting traditions where the body and landscape carry equal emotional weight.
What remains is movement.
The feeling of letting the water carry what no longer needs to be held.
A place where the horizon becomes a direction.
This is not art that decorates. It occupies.
