The work
FIGURE STUDY II — Tension pulls the viewer into a portrait defined by restraint, painterly texture, and controlled expression.
The composition closes inward around the figure. Focus remains fixed on the structure of the face, the direction of the gaze, and the contained pressure within the composition.
On canvas, the work gains physical depth. Texture becomes more visible, shadows settle into the matte surface, and the portrait takes on a stronger spatial presence within the room.
