STILLNESS, HELD II — Resting is a portrait of a woman who has stopped performing.
She sits low, head dropped, gaze turned toward the floor. The white fabric pools around her. There is no tension left in the body — no holding, no bracing, no awareness of being seen. She has gone somewhere quieter, and the painting follows her there without disturbing it.
The palette is the same stillness as the first piece in the series — stone, linen, warm skin — but the mood is different. Where Standing holds composure, Resting holds release. The particular kind that only arrives after something has finally been put down.
Light falls softly across her back and shoulder. Nothing is dramatised. The composition simply stays with her, steady and unhurried, the way stillness should be held.
This is not a painting about fragility. It is a painting about the specific strength it takes to stop.
