The work
MEDITERRANEAN STUDIES — The Grove explores the enduring relationship between landscape, architecture, and time.
A weathered olive tree anchors the composition, its twisted trunk standing beside centuries-old Mediterranean stone architecture. Beyond the terrace, the coastline unfolds toward the horizon while light moves quietly across stone, foliage, and sea.
The tree becomes the centre of gravity.
Its roots disappear into the landscape. Its branches extend toward the sky. The architecture remains secondary to the sense of permanence created by the grove itself.
The figure moves through the scene without disturbing its stillness.
Built through atmosphere, distance, and light, the work draws from contemporary Mediterranean figurative and landscape painting traditions where place carries equal emotional weight to the human presence within it.
What remains is permanence.
The feeling of standing somewhere unchanged by urgency.
A place shaped by seasons rather than schedules.
This is not art that decorates. It occupies.
Framed format.
