The work
MEDITERRANEAN STUDIES — The Courtyard explores the relationship between architecture, memory, and enclosure.
Within a secluded Mediterranean courtyard, ancient olive trees rise beside weathered stone walls shaped by decades of sun, wind, and season. Flowering vines soften the architecture while shifting light moves across worn stone beneath the canopy.
The space feels protected.
The architecture creates boundaries without confinement. The trees provide shelter without obscuring the sky. The courtyard becomes a place suspended between movement and stillness.
A solitary figure crosses the space quietly.
Neither arrival nor departure becomes the focus. Instead, the work centres on atmosphere, permanence, and the feeling of belonging to a place that exists outside urgency.
Built through light, shadow, and architectural rhythm, the composition draws from contemporary Mediterranean figurative and landscape painting traditions where place carries as much emotional weight as the figure itself.
What remains is refuge.
The feeling of stepping into shade after a long journey.
A place shaped by time rather than trend.
This is not art that decorates. It occupies.
Framed format.
