The work
MEDITERRANEAN STUDIES — The Alcove explores the quiet tension between interior stillness and the open Mediterranean beyond.
Set inside a weathered stone room, the work captures a figure standing near an open window as sea light enters the space. A soft curtain moves beside her, the coastline appears in the distance, and warm shadow gathers across the walls, dress, and floor.
The figure is composed and self-contained. She does not perform for the viewer. Her presence belongs to the room — held by stone, light, fabric, and the view beyond.
The alcove becomes more than architecture. It becomes a private threshold between shelter and openness, shadow and sun, solitude and the outside world.
Built through warm tonal depth, painterly texture, and Mediterranean atmosphere, the work draws from contemporary figurative painting traditions where interior space carries as much emotional weight as the figure itself.
What remains is presence.
The feeling of standing still while the world opens quietly beside you.
A place where light enters without asking.
This is not art that decorates. It occupies.
