The work
MEDITERRANEAN STUDIES — The Quiet Hour explores the stillness of a private Mediterranean garden, where shade, sunlight, architecture, and rest gather into a single suspended moment.
Set beneath old trees outside a weathered Mediterranean villa, the work captures the feeling of retreating from the heat of the day. Dappled light falls across the hammock, flowers, terracotta vessels, stone ground, and surrounding greenery, creating a rhythm between warmth and shadow.
The figure rests quietly within the garden, not displayed, not performing. Her presence feels absorbed into the place itself — held by the hammock, softened by shade, and surrounded by the quiet abundance of the landscape.
Built through warm tonal depth, painterly texture, and broken Mediterranean light, the work draws from contemporary figurative painting traditions where the body, garden, and architecture carry equal emotional weight.
What remains is rest.
The feeling of being somewhere beautiful with nowhere else to be.
A place where the day slows down.
This is not art that decorates. It occupies.
Framed format.
