The work
FIGURE STUDY X — Resolve closes the series where it was always heading.
The figure turns away, back fully exposed, wrapped in dark movement that no longer feels turbulent or resistant. The posture is grounded. The gaze, caught in profile, is calm and fully settled. There is vulnerability within the composition, but no instability.
Unlike the earlier works, this piece carries no visible struggle. The tension that shaped the series softens into stillness.
Warm stone tones, oxidised mineral hues and deep carbon blacks create a restrained palette that feels weathered rather than dramatic. Light moves gently across the figure while the surrounding brushwork dissolves into softer atmospheric movement.
Printed on museum-quality archival matte paper, subtle tonal transitions and layered painterly surfaces become quieter, heavier and more tactile — closer to aged pigment and canvas than digital image.
The work carries presence without force.
Strength without performance.

It is resolution without explanation.
