FIGURE STUDY X — Resolve closes the series where it was always heading.
The figure turns away, back fully exposed, draped in dark fabric that moves without urgency. There is vulnerability in the composition — but no fragility. The posture is grounded. The gaze, caught in profile, is settled. She has arrived somewhere and stopped explaining herself.
This is the quietest piece in the series, and the most complete.
The palette deepens into warm stone, oxidised copper, and deep carbon — tones that feel earned rather than chosen. Light moves across the figure without drama. The dark brushwork that carried tension through the earlier works is still present, but it no longer resists. It resolves.
The series ends not with release, but with stillness that costs nothing anymore.
